Even after Lord Shiva refused, Shiva’s wife and daughter of King Daksha went into the yagna (यज्ञ ). There she was insulted and she jumped into the Yagna Kund. Very upset with this news, Lord Shiva created Veerabhadra (वीरभद्र) with his hair and Veerabhadra went with Gana and destroyed the Daksha Yagya. After the demolition of the Yajna, Sati became impeded by ordering herself into the shadow form Sati.

This incident does not end after the Chayaa-Sati (छायासती) is consumed, after the Chayasati is pleased by Lord Shiva and signs the completion of the Yagya, Chayasati’s corpse is safely reunited in the Yajshala of Daksha. And then despite being foretold by Goddess Shakti as foretold, Lord Shivji, like a cosmic man, mourns for Sati and wanders like a lunatic wearing Sati’s corpse on his head.
